Sunday Walking Market in Chiang Mai
Every Sunday traffic is banned from one of the main streets in the old, walled city of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. Hundreds of street stalls turn this street into a busy market where you can buy anything from t-shirts to paintings and from sushi to fried crickets. The market overflows into side streets and temple grounds; you can easily spend hours just walking around and still discover unexplored areas. It's a gigantic tourist trap, but one definitely worth a visit. It doesn't matter if you want to stock up on cheap souvenirs or if you are just looking for some great street food: it's all there.
